Was the Task of Eliminating Akatsuki Pushed onto Sasuke?

As we know Sasuke is pretty much a good guy now. He values the village, his friends, and is truly apologetic about his time on the dark side. supposedly

So what if the village elders still held a grudge against Sasuke? :| I mean he did kill Danzo, helped Orochimaru in whatever freak show experiments he was up to, deserted the village, and was at one point part of Akatsuki. So do u think that when Akatsuki started to resurface its possible that the elders pushed the responsibility of investigating and eliminating Akatsuki onto Sasuke?

They could have even questioned whether Sasuke was in league with the new Akatsuki if when questioned Sasuke never told them anything of remaining Akatsuki members.

Most logical conclusion is that:

I. Naruto/Sasuke are working together on this, hence why Sasuke called Naruto before they dealt with Orochimaru or "talk to him"
II. Sasuke found out about 'something' important in his time gone which resulted in Uchiha/Sharingan/Orochimaru findings
III. The Akatsuki just resurfaced and Sasuke just found this problem recently. If you look at the contrast between Sasuke in 700, and now, he doesn't look that cautious, but now he has his Sharingan on and everything.

He's not even in the Village most of the times,and besides,why would Naruto,and Sasuke let the Elders boss Sasuke around? They both know the truth about the Uchiha massacre,and how do you know those two are even alive? They are not immortal like Oonoki.

I think it's the other way around. Akatsuki want Sasuke dead and are constantly targeting him, that forced him to stay away from the village to protect it.

That's the impression I got, maybe Sasuke never truly came back to the village because of that, Sakura met with him somewhere outside instead.

Koharu and Homura are dead actually (old age). They also lost their positions to Shikamaru when Kakashi/Naruto took over.

Sasuke found the Akatsuki on his travels. No one pushed anything onto him and he's away from his friends/family of his own accord.

III. Or Kishi hadn't decided on a plot when 700 happened. Tbh, I doubt there was more than one issue since this is a mini series and there has to be a singular root cause to Sasuke's absence so I think the Akatsuki resurfacing and Sasuke's absence are connected

Yea I never said that the people targeting him are only those 2, maybe there are more. I say he might have never came back because the spoilers say there is no record of Sarada's birth, meaning she was probably born outside the village. So either she is not Sakura's daughter which is less likely imo, or Sakura met Sasuke outside the village.

I. Implying that this event is happening now, Sasuke decides to now meet/talk with Orochimaru, meaning that these events are "new" or "occurring as we speak"
III. Just because Sasuke is living in a time of peace does not mean where he is traveling is a "safe place". There are still threats that linger such as; rogue, animals, etc., but that doesn't mean Sasuke himself does not look 'peaceful' in a sense. Notice how he even shrugged off his immediate worry on the supposed "noise" and carried on with his duties.
