Conclusion:

Boruto has displayed a minimal amount of feats, some of these are not even feats, and should not be taken that seriously. Though it should be clear that these two people are different - Naruto who would use the multiple shadow clone jutsu to trick the opponent, while Boruto only used one.

My theory is that Boruto is pushing himself back by wanting to play around with his father, instead of focusing on training, because he has the susceptible skills for being a shinobi. Which also causes a conflict between Naruto, Boruto, and the village itself.

Now we know that Sasuke is going to be his "Master" in the same sense Tsunade/Jiraiya were to Sakura/Naruto, which means this: Naruto is going to ask Sasuke to take Boruto under his wing to improve his capabilities, and unleash the potential he wastes on playing pranks and bothering him.
