Like Naruto's I am sure something big happened during Sarada's birth.

If she is Sasuke and Karin's then I am sure Orochimaru attacked at that moment to try and get the child which ended up getting Karin killed maybe. I am guessing Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura all know the truth of the events and have kept it a secret this whole time for protection maybe?

The only reason she is being raised by Sakura is because Sasuke wanted a safe, 'enjoyable' life for her inside the Leaf where she belongs with her comrades. We don't know how Karins lifestyle is right now, it may not be suitable for having a child along her side.
