Are you serious ? Fire + Lighhtning = A volatile combo with incineration abilities. Naruto's rasengan was only able to weaken the attack and cause it to backfire partially. It was the Chidori with Amaterasu which incinerated thier arms.

The Rasengan that Naruto used did not have any elemental affinities in it. It was a pure shape manipulation jutsu and the damage it would do would be physical. So, if it did defeat Sasuke's Chidori/Amaterasu combo, you would see a few broken bones lying around, muscle fibers and the like as the damage would be physical.

Instead we see that both of thier arms got incinerated, there was nothing left, no bones, no muscle fibres, etc. This is proof that the Reasengan caused the Amaterasu Chidori to partially backfire on Sasuke causing incineration of both of thier arms.

Notice the final time, Naruto and Sasuke were at the focal point of a massive explosion. No incineration due to Amaterasu, more like their arms were blown off due to the yield of the blast.

I can concede that they may be equal, but Boruto could never use it without a dojutsu. Does that mean byakugan is confirmed for Bolt? That would enhance his perception to all counterattacks.

Hey, remember in Part 1 where Sasuke could only use chidori 2x a day and Kakashi could only use it 4x a day? While rasengan can be spammed without limit or risk of overexhaustion.

Yeah... rasengan is superior to the lightning stab.
