The two objects are pulled together by a magnetic force. If the kunai is visible and Nagato uses BT he can make the kunai stab a victim.

They can only attract the kunai to themselves. Bansho Tennin is basically making you a magnet.

He was talking about kunai being stopped by BT, which is impossible. Right, anything in the sense of colliding the user with BT would have to be setup similar to how Nagato did it.
