Okay I was on Youtube and watching a Naruto video and I looked at the comment section and found a gem underneath all the shit that was on there, I thought this was ****ing awesome and had to share it with you guys.
"Izanagi is the will to decide, but it often becomes the lies we tell ourselves. Izanami is the truth of our nature, but often becomes the cycle of mistakes we repeat in our lives until we can be honest with ourselves. It's human psychology. It's also the internalization of Shinto."
"Naruto vs Pein is the most obvious example. Applying this to real life- if you're inflexible, drop down and do yoga right now... the PAIN will tell you to give up, but if it's really important to you and you're strong like Naruto, you'll tell the pain to "give up on me giving up". Continuing with this example, in yoga (the origin of knowledge of chakras), you don't try to kill the pain. Rather, the tensions in your body are typically a result of psychosomatic stresses, so you try to understand the origin of the pain and relieve it (like Naruto listening to Pein's story). Naruto vs Pein is a general philosophy for dealing with pain.
Another note about Naruto and Pein, and Izangi/Izanami- Naruto's application of Izangi (the will to decide) was NOT in conflict with his Izanami (inner truth, nature), because he wasn't trying to change the past (like an Uchiha). Instead, the story Naruto creates (the story of a hero), uses the will to be true to himself in the NOW, and the resolve to always continue to do that throughout the future. This is how he broke the CYCLE OF PAIN (an Izanami), and kept his will to decide (Izangi). This is how Naruto's eyes work. They are the best eyes in the series, so don't waste your time on the Sharingan."
