In my opinion, Konohamaru is the most likely candidate, Shikamaru and Sasuke will be getting on quite a lot in age by the time Naruto steps down as Hokage. Plus it's Konohamaru's dream and goal to become hokage.

1. Why would Sakura be ahead of Sasuke? Since Naruto and Sasuke are the two most powerful people on the planet.

2. Why would the 5th Hokage want to to step back up as Hokage after she stepped down and two more Hokage have come after her?!? Plus she must be pretty old even in Chapter 700. She would be ancient by the time Naruto stepped down as Hokage...

3. Why would Kakashi want to step back up as Hokage when he stepped down? The only way something like that could happen was if Naruto died a sudden death which seems EXTREMELY unlikely... It would be kind of the same as Hiruzen replacing Minato.

Personally I think the most likely candidate wouldn't be someone of Naruto's generation, like the jonin Konohomaru.

Because Sakura is the most influential person in konoha after Naruto. Being the best medical ninja tends to give you that influence.

He also said that he was going to be hokage. At the time I said wat? because he was younger than Naruto when he said it. Now that Naruto's much older and Konohamaru's much stronger [kid took down a pain minion while still being younger Naruto] he's the next hokage.

Who will be the hokage after that? it doesn't matter. The series stops at Konohamaru. Bolt hates hokages, and Salad's thoughts on hokages? We'll find out in the new series.
