No. It is a manga fact that Madara needed an Hashirama boob to acquire SM.
If his already massive chakra couldn't do it alone then its obvious having a big reserve isn't all there is to it as Pa explained and its probably more along the lines of what Kabuto explained, you need a certain body for it and not even he had that, which led him to do what Madara did but instead he needed DNA of 9 people.
This makes most sense from this thread.
Though IIRC Madara needed Hashirama's boob-face for Mokuton, and not necessarily Sage Mode. Madara's usage of the sage mode comes through control of the Juubi, which is a different practice of senjutsu from what we're talking about.
From various references to the subject in the manga, it can be said that Sage Mode is a kekkei genkai by itself. It required special genes more or less, and the fact that people who mastered the techniques were few and far between support this. Dragon Sage mode was a myth until Kabuto acquired it. Naruto, Jiraiya, Minato and Hashirama are the only ones shown utilizing Frog Sage mode, though it can be questioned whether Hashirama's version is Frog Sage mode, and not something else, perhaps Slug Sage. Nobody has been confirmed as a Slug Sage. The closest thing we have, in theory, would be Hashirama, though he has never been affiliated with the slugs. This theory comes from Tsunade, in that, Hashirama may have been the one who gave her the Slug summoning contract.
This next part is simply what I believe from what I know.
There probably is no 'slug sage' mode. The only known Slug said to reside in that forest is Katsuyu, and she's one being that divides. If the original was a sage, the mini ones would be too, which evidently isn't the case.
There are possibly many variants of sage mode, though. The cursed seal used Sage Chakra, and overuse disfigured the users to resemble various animals and beasts.
Sasuke: Winged beast resembling a gargoyle. Possibly a bat too. That he couldn't actually fly may have more to do with the strength of sage chakra (which was weak in the cursed seal)
Kimimaru: More or less turned into a prehistoric dinosaur. A T-Rex-like beast. Had enough strength to break through Gaara's absolute defense, despite the weakness of the cursed seal sage chakra.
Similarly for the Sound Four.
Orochimaru, dispite his careful choice of bodies, couldn't master dragon sage mode. Kabuto had to use 9 people's DNA for the purpose.
I'd also say that Sage Mode itself is the same through out the representing animals, along with the abilities granted. For that purpose, RSM represents all the tailed beasts, while BSM as of now could be accessed through just Kurama.
