[Suggestion] Reputation system

The reputation bar is supposed to reflect the creditworthiness of the person's opinion. Well at present Narutobase has a rep system where a reputation points directly shows green / red in your rep bar. The number of posts by the person is irrelevant.

The problem with this system is that once a person has been long enough on the base and gathered a large amount of reputation, his rep bar would almost definitely stay full. He/she may talk nonsense due to which people might ignore them or even if you rep them negatively, the points gained by them cumulatively over the past are so huge that it won't have real effect on the rep bar. So going by the rep bar, his posts in the future would still be as creditworthy as anyone who is genuinely posts good stuff.

I propose the system be modified as firstly till you reach a fixed number of posts (let us say 2000), your rep bar is reflection only of your reputation points received. Once you cross this mark, rep bar should be a function of reputation points received / number of posts. So if you keep posting shit and your posts are not good, your no of posts increases which causes the rep bar to go down. So no matter how much time you have spent on the base,your rep bar would truly reflect the credit of your word. The forum leaders would also be identified. I am not saying that this shod exactly be the system but a similar mechanism can be looked into.

Rep system is ran the same way on every forum I've ever seen and it is one of the most pointless things to take note of that gets abused. I think the like/dislike feature is better. I ignore the rep system, I wish there was a way to take off the notification whenever +/- rep is recieved tbh

You thought correctly.

Giving people more rep power as the time progresses does not makes sense. See many members leave after some time, when their rep power has increased and many don't. So the variety or the mix that you began with is not the same ,when you consider reputation giving power vise.

Also it places power of reputation majorly in hands of a few people. Why should an opinion about a post matter from older people ? It is not a correct way to look at things. Opinion of each individual should matter equally.

I don't think so. I don't because the rep system does not truly reflect it and I have been on the base to know if someone's opinion is good or not. But the whole purpose of Rep bar is to do that work for you.

you would know that someone's repbar does not represent is trustworthiness etc, but I do agree a bit with you.

You really shouldn't look at a person's rep bar to determine if his posts are good or not. The rep system is flawed, everyone knows that, but it's been working so far.

But that does not mean it cannot be corrected. It can be corrected.

I guess you need to stop judging people based on the rep power/points they have and acknowledge them for what good they're doing for the community, and if you're rep bullied by someone and you know its unjust you can always reach up to the Admins and let them handle the matter, you know, admins are quite good with tampering with someone's rep

See the flaw in that logic is why to keep those little green boxes if at the end of the day you have to accept that they are usleas and also rep abuse can be corrected by what I mentioned. If it can be corrected, why not correct it ?
