Yep, they are buddies for life.
Law is simply in denial.
Oh and I am calling it now that after this arc, whenever Law tries to deny his friendship with Luffy, his crew roll their eyes and say, "yeah, sure your not."
Its to classic a moment for the author to not use.

So I guess the real question is, who else will join their alliance, it won't be to many of the supernovas as Luffy needs rivals, and once you form a alliance like this with Luffy its pretty permanent.
Hmmmm, I wonder if about the Happo Navy, well they are sort of allies, assuming Chinjao's vow of putting his grandson and the navy under Luffy's wing.

I think its because of all the Luffy vs Law debates, he wants to remind everyone they are buddies for life and like able characters.

It's pretty normal..
Law could probably relate a big deal with Luffy when he lost Ace , that's why he came to save him at Marineford because Law went trough a same experience (albeit much worse).. Then take the fact that Luffy is a D.. Corazon talked with law about 'D' and how they were basically the natural enemies of his arch nemesis (Doffy). For a D (luffy) then to show up out of nowhere, probably the first one Law ever encounered apart from himself must have been some kind of beacon of hope in his eyes. Like fate was finally in favor for him.
That would explain why he really saved him, it always came off to me that he was lying when he said he saved Luffy because he would be a good opponent one day.
Speaking of great Law and Luffy moments, the best one had to be the look on Law's face when he realized how goofy the Strawhats are and when he unknowingly joined into their banter.
Sign that he is being corrupted by their fun loving nature.

It's almost impossible to hate law and luffy, their personalities together would entertain you for a while.
All they need is Drake, because out of all of them he seems to really know how to do this new world voyage.
