Why Hamura's descendants continued the Otsutsuki name but not Hagoromo's?

Why did Hamura's descendants continue using the Otsutsuki name, but Hagoromo's descendants became the Uchiha and Senju? I'm thinking Indra denounced his Otsutsuki heritage after not being chosen by Hagoromo to be his successor, so he didn't give his child the last name Otsutsuki, but why would Ashura's descendants not have the Otsutsuki last name?

They could have married into different family.

Could have changed it because people feared the Otsutsuki.

To fool people into the bloodline was dead to prevent people like Madara from doing what he did.

Can be many reasons. Only Kishi knows.

Also remember Indra and Ashura split and I don't think they'd want to fight under same name so one called themselves Uchiha and the other Senju (of the forest)

Meanwhile on the planet, the brother's feud went on for ages without people really knowing the history or reasoning behind it, so the name Otsutsuki probably vanished after a few generations. Hagoromo himself was thought to a be a myth despite being the one who spread chakra to everyone (not sure how), so I'm sure no one kept up with the history or records of the Otsutsuki and with the following wars any type of proof of their existence probably vanished as well.
