Yes very interesting and to peak your interest, I'll give some minor spoilers here. Before I do that though, I must say, Naruto never really excited me this much ever since before the War Arc. I got addicted to reading all eleven chapters in one day.

Basically Kakashi and Shikamaru realize that there is a secretive country where a lot of shinobi from the Five Great Nations are disappearing to. Both want to assassinate the leader but Kakashi is Hokage so he sends Shikamaru and two Anbu on the same team. At this point, it seems like Temari is there only hope, can she solo the entire village? Who knows.

Shikamaru is portrayed to be the Tobirama esque type of persona so I guess it does suit him considering Madara did say that Tobirama used to attack from the victim when they

I've been stalking that tumblr for a while now, though I'm mostly interested in Ino and Sai in this novel. Like, will there be at least a hint on how they got together? Since Sai has some role and all.

The general narrative style in it irks me though.

Temari was being too emotional about Shikamaru ( it looks like she was crying because his hiding something from her) lawl and Gaara called her nee-san O_O. It looks like no one want trust Kakashi

Also the romance is awfully similar to The Last minus the wedding part ( There is Shikadai at the end of this novel) . Oh, and in the genjutsu, Shikamaru invites Temari on a date . It also has Sai Ino moment .

Temari's characterisation as a bold woman wasn't ruined just because she shed a tear.

As of now, there hasn't been any romance and I haven't watched the Last so I can't comment on that.

Well Sai got brainwashed somehow, I wonder how he regains his will of fire/loyalty to Konoha.

I wonder if Ino and Chouji will show up to the Land of Silence village to help Shikamaru out. Right now, only Temari is going to go but I highly doubt Temari alone will save the day against an entire village. Also Ino's abilities such as mindreading, sensory abilities and mind transfer will be extremely useful in this sort of mission.

Summary of Chapter 1

-Shikamaru ponders upon his past
-He becomes relied on by the entire shinobi union
-The shinobi union is the alliance of the five great nations, the samurai and other newly joined minor villages
-He reflects how he has a lot of responsibilities such as being the one to assign and rank missions for the entire union of shinobi
-He worries about how his life has become full of responsibilities and how he always wanted a simple life
-It's been two years after the War ended and Kurenai's daughter Mirai was two years old
-Shikamaru vowed to become Mirai's sensei
-Shikamaru was Kakashi's advisor much like Shizune was to Tsunade
-Sai's ink bird came with a dire message that freaked Kakashi out
