Naruto seems to have enough comprehension of COAT to know he's even capable of it. Just like how Sasuke (A new rinnegan user) had comprehension of hand signs and Rinnegan techniques.

Naruto has Ying-Yang release though.

We don't know the limitations of COAT. Hagoromo could have lived to be immortal if it didn't have limitations.

Naruto and Sasuke both have Hagoromo's chakra. They both have COAT.

Bijuu Susanoo was the yin version of COAT because he used chakra to make a new Susanoo, he made forms out of nothingness. Naruto used the yang version of COAT because it involved regenerating life, he breathed "life" into Obito and made an eye for Kakashi using his cells (building blocks of life).

Sasuke used chakra and made a chakra construct the only thing he didn't do was give the Susanoo a will because he didn't need to (plot) and also because he hasn't mastered the Rinnegan yet. Same reason Naruto couldn't regenerate whilst low on chakra, didn't master his RSM yet.
