There was a discussion a while back about how it was to be gay in Russia and I remember many people claiming to be from Russia, that it wasn't that bad~

Well, it's a fact now, so what do you think about this situation?

Do you think they should be allowed to get away with this type of crime?

It shouldn't be allowed. It's an assault in which they casually beat/kill people. Ofcourse it's a crime.

Yeah, some can't help their appearance. However, a guy like myself, it is hard to tell. I often get asked if I have a girlfriend, girls hit on me, guys try to hook me up with girls they know etc... Not all masculine guys are straight. If you have the choice it's easy to hide it. HOWEVER... not all gay men can hide it. I don't think someone should be harmed for being who they are. Why does another mans sexual actions matter? Men sleeping with men reduce the number of competitors for other men.

He said his opinion of the situation with Russia, basically agreeing with it on some levels. However, he didn't completely agree with it. I don't think he said anything worth getting banned over. Maybe he had a lot of other offenses.

I don't understand differentiating a hate crime from any crime against humanity. If a person robs and shoots another person there is definite hate there, but it may look different. Passive resistance is the best form of countering that kind of prejudice and violence. It brings world sympathy, and eventually change. It also shows greater inner strength to tolerate barbarianism with a dignified peacefulness. It takes less will power to attack back in the same way.

Solar is half-correct. He, like all of us, have a right to our opinion; however, we don't always have a right to verbalize our opinion. It is up the the governing force to dictate what opinions we can freely speak. We can even take it one step further and say that we have the right to our opinion and to verbalize it, but we also have to accept the consequences for breaking rules. It's about running the risk of going up against a governing body, whether on an internet forum or a large scale government.
