He was talking mad shit to Ace and Whitebeard, and eventually would have killed Luffy if Ace wasn't there. I think Luffy has more reasons to fight Akainu than BB, but we know that he'll fight BB for sure. I think Sabo'll be the one that takes down Akainu.
Both pirates, who break law around the world. Luffy is the son of the world government's enemy, and is the person who has broken people from the world' worst prison.... and these weren't normal prisoners.. but high level prisoners who he broke out.

I can't imagine Sengoku or Garp would have been ok with that after everything would have been settled. Especially with so many witnesses.
They can't do anything to Akainu if he had killed one of his underlings, that was going to stop the flow of the marines.
Akainu has bigger influence than old man Sengoku, and they weren't gonna demote the admiral with the biggest higher up support.
