I think this rule should be removed. It is completely unnecessary and it doesn't even have a purpose. People are still going to say what they want to say, and at the end of the day, I find it really stupid to punish someone just for talking about a drawing. People are too sensitive to deal with negativity and criticism. Is that why this rule even exists? You see this all the time in forums and during debates between two opposing teams. One side will try to defend their side and the other side will do the same. If one person decides to talk trash about a certain character or how that said character is "weak" or a "fodder", I see no reason to make a big deal out of it. If you have the ability to control yourself and handle what they have to say then it shouldn't be a problem but at the end of the day they are just characters created on paper. They are not your siblings. They are not real people. They are not going to hurt you if they are being bashed or talked about. To be honest, they couldn't care less about you because they are not even real.
The problem with this rule is that it is put into place for those who are too sensitive and too weak to handle it, so this rule has to be put in place just for those who can't handle different opinions.
Remember this:
"Making fun of certain characters/character pairings leads to a pointless thread filled with insults and general rule breaking."
What does this really mean now? It means that if I call Kiba a loser and someone gets mad when I called Kiba a loser then I am the one who gets in trouble, and to top it off, that said person who got upset will probably call me a loser back, and so on, but it shouldn't be my problem that he decided to call me a loser because of a drawing. It shouldn't be my problem if people can't control their anger and decide to get upset and cry because a character they like was bashed.
Not every character in a story will be liked and not every character in a story will be favored. If I find a character in a story to be a loser or lame then I see no reason for a rule to be put into place just because people don't like what I have to say. Freedom of Speech? Yeah, Freedom of Speech my ass.
