Is this where Kishi got inspiration for the Hidden Rain Village?

Scroll down to "Ghost in the Shell". It's an anime but based off a manga first published in 1989.

^that looks uncannily similar to Amegakure, don't you think?

a strong magnet release user could potentially rek the entire rain village if they put a big ass magnet above it

Dayum beans, I'm a fan of Ghost in the Shell but I hadn't noticed this. The two settings do look strikingly similar, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kishi was influenced by that due to the popularity and ratings GitS received in Japan.

kishi probably wanted amegakure to look very gloomy so he chose the mechanized route to make it stand out from other villages

They're definitely both using steampunk-type architecture, and given the critical acclaim/influence that GITS had in both Japan and the West, I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the inspiration came from.

It definitely wouldn't be the first time that Kishimoto was influenced by other Japanese media, either.

I think Kishi got his inspiration for Hidden Rain village from BASF chemical complex, that complex or factory is huge.

OT, I can agree with that. Its normal for mangaka uses someone else art work or take that art for inspiration.

Interesting, the similarities in architecture are too uncanny for it to be a coincidence.

Nice find!

I've seen other interpretations of future cities that look like the Rain villiage. I don't think Kishi got inspiration from Ghost in the Shell but nice catch.
