Dammit, I was trying my best to get the main lighting to be perfect.

Try filling a new layer with black, set the layer on Linear Dodge and then use a soft brush with the appropriate lighting color and brush at the spots that need lighting.. Play around with the opacity when you're finished.

I have heard of that technique.
It brings out the lighting and makes it more clearer from what I've heard.
