His plan simply backfired when Sasuke was manipulated by Tobi.He thought Sasuke would return to the village on killing him

Killing your own mother and father.
Practically in front of your own brother.
Telling your brother to hate you for it.
Taunting him and twisting his reality.
And after he "kills" you, you want him to return
to normal due to a ****ing hax genjutsu thats rigged
to affect him...

He mentally and emotionally tortured Sasuke yet expected him to turn out well adjusted. He intended to have him kill his friend, leading him to be a murderer and traitor, but expected this to turn him into a hero for Konoha. None of that makes any sense.

Itachi was a brutal, mindraping, genocidal thug and an extremely vicious madman who was complicit in multiple Obito atrocities and sat on his ass for 10 years in the Akatsuki and basically slept on the job.

He was so cold hearted, that he went cold turkey with his "job" to spy on the Akatsuki, and thus he indirectly declared war on humanity. Itachi Killed 7 jinchuurikins when he helped akatsuki to extract the bijuus.

Actually this is the Itachi who "loves" Sasuke

Kishimoto tried to add in a twist with "good" Itachi, but failed to adequately cover his back in terms of what he had already established in the story.

When you live in a hateful world where killing is mission, somehow things like this is just normal. What itachi did is wrong, but his intention to make sasuke stronger by all of those thing is at least to protect his brother, there is strong bond btw them.

Somebody just said Naruto is not talked about as much as Sasuke these days. I would like to clarify to that person this is so because Naruti has done all he had set out to do. Be the greatest Hokage, establish peace, bring Sasuke back , defeat Sasuke, free Tail beasts etc. While Sasuke is still clearly searching for answers.
Also on the pairing front , Naruto got a movie for that. It resolved that side of his story.
So Naruto is talked about less because all his issues have been resolved clearly. There is still a mystery about Sasuke's story. Hence his threads are more popular and receive more speculation .
