Is Attack on Titan overrated?(Please give me a reason)

Personally, I like the anime. My first thought when I saw the trailer of Aot (Attack on Titan) was okay, but after I have seen the 1st season the animation itself was great to begin with. It seems so much hype for it, though. Don't spoil, because I haven't read the manga yet, and I've heard Attack on Titan season 2 will be released in 2016.

Anyway, what does everyone think about Attack on Titan being overrated? Many people says the show is way too overrated, and there is no explaining why. I agree Aot is not the greatest anime, because there are actually other animes that are better of course. I only want to discuss this because I think Aot was great in my opinion. The openings was great, especially the Germany part.

In overall, please answer my question from the title.

It's not for everyone, and it's just my opinion. I'm not gonna have the exact same opinion as a hundred other people. Some may have the same opinion.

Overrated is such a lame term that is given to series that are popular, it's like you need to be unknown for something to be good in people's mind. People shouldn't be reading something just so they can have an opinion on it, this is what a lot of people do with AoT, just because they don't like it and don't like others talking about it, nothing but jealousy. OT: It's not, one of my favos. *sip*

It is really great but it is overrated. For good reason though, a lot of people who've only seen shows like Naruto or haven't seen anime watched Attack on Titan and hyped the sh*t out of it (myself included) because we weren't really used to shows like it. When you watch more anime Attack on Titan really isn't too 'special'. It's still bad ass though.

why is it overrated? because it's actually great and many people like it? stupid people that try to get attention by calling everything to be overrated and shit nowadays isn't new.
for me it is one of the best ongoing mangas and will always remain as a great one. can't wait for the next anime season!
