What could be the reason zeref gave natsu the last name dragneel was it always planned for Igneel to raise him into a dragon slayer opinions any one

Acnologia made himself into a dragon by bathing in the blood of so many slain dragons. Zeref had nothing to do with that.

And Natsu technically is a demon, it's just dormant because END has to activate for it to awaken within him.

OT: Dragneel I assume was given to him by Igneel to symbolize a familial bond of sorts because it also sounds like Igneel as well.

Although we cant say for sure. It makes sense. Othwerise what stopped countless slayers to turn into dragons? Why just one? Im sure in their time slayers killed countless dragons. You cant put a number on how many you need to kill in order to turn into a dragon.

It makes more sense that Zeref made acnologia into a dragon which is why every time he appears so too does acnologia. He even called to him before in that one arc.

this ^ overuse of their powers turns them into dragons. why the dragons were in them creating antibodies. now zeref may have altered acnologia somehow because he's still OP. sure just transforming doesn't grant that kind of unstoppable power.

Using too much DS magic would turn you into a dragon and killing too many dragons and bathing in their blood would make you stronger. Acnologia did both which is why turned into a strong Dragon. It's clear that they have some sort of connection but I don't think Zeref has anything to do with his transformation or strength. He definitely has something to do with his evil behaviour/ nature. I believe that he ended up like that because of Zeref's influence on him.

I have a feeling that for some reason Acnologia wants to prevent Zeref's death. From the looks of it, he doesn't fear END but he wants to prevent his resurrection. If he doesn't fear END then there is only one reason for him to stop END i.e. preventing Zeref's death. I have two conclusions in my mind.

1. Death of Zeref will be the END of Dark magic so Acnologia has to die/lose all of his powers with Zeref's death which is why he wants to prevent his death.
2. END will get a lot stronger by killing Zeref and Acnologia fears that strength.

highly plausible. their lives are probably tethered, or as you've stated at least acnologia's strength is tethered to zeref's life. one has to wonder tho, what element is acnologia using? darkness maybe? feel thats too close to rogue's shadows tho. and who taught him? maybe thats where zeref comes in, one way or another.

From the looks of it his element isn't darkness but I believe that his power has something to do with darkness. I mean darkness definitely has some kind of influence on attacks such as soul extraction magic and the work darkness is constantly being mentioned whenever someone talks about Acnologia.
