Pica isn't a Logia user. It's a paramencia that lets him control and assimilate stone.

TBH, i don't understand how it works or why Zoro can't hit him either.

Pica is hiding with his terrain-shifting ability, now that he's done it...
Taking his eyes off Zoro, he's gonna pay big time...

Zoro did hurt him but it wasn't a notable injury.

He's not a Logia because he cannot create stone and he doesn't become stone, he simply merges with the stone.

His real body is somewhere in the the Island whenever he doesn't create a stone hypergiant or he himself comes out of hiding, this means unless he is a stone giant; Zoro cannot hurt his body without finding it within the giant, so to hurt him Zoro will have to slash him to sh*t.

First of all Pica's a paramecia which is why cutting the rock doesn't hurt him, Zoro needs to find his real body encased in the rocks before he can hurt him.

Because he keeps hiding inside the earth, running away while using outside methods other than fighting himself

Pica's ability allows him to merge with and control stone. Pretty much the majority of the fight with Zoro he has been hiding his real body somewhere and assaulted Zoro with just rocks and earth he was manipulating. Having Haki or not doesn't really matter as it are still normal rocks and stones.

It's not tht he can't hurt him it's that he cannot catch him... Zoro at moment is too slow if sanji was here he could've blitzed pica out of rocks and then zoro could've finished pics off

Zoro will eventually catch pic a thus gaining a speed feat while still being slowest of main three he will be faster then before

Sanji ain't making any difference here.

I wonder though, can't zoro use the Haki of observation to find pica?

May be he's too fast to hit when he's moving inside rocks.

I'm more inclined to believe it's currently simply far too chaotic to use the CoO efficiently. Thousands of people (probably far more) are running in a chaotic mess around the entire island, many potentially dying too. For someone who is using the CoO, this is pure hell. Remember Cobi at Marineford? He was losing his mind because he couldn't control the ability. Or Otohime when she was killed? Hody Jones specifically set that situation up to block her CoO, which was top-notch. The ones who can control their CoO are really not going to start using it in a situation like this. It's far too taxing on the mind + very inaccurate in these circumstances. Zoro's forte lies in the CoA either way.

Using Haki to hit a stone wall will not harm the caster like a logia sending out his/her element out in long range.

I think that's where your misconception is being held.

But in this arc we're going to see primary focus on powerful fruit users who can do battle against well rounded Haki users.

During doffy, croc, hawkeyes, and Moria's era people who can fight comfortable with Haki users were those with great battle skills and complete mastery over their devils fruit.

Right now is a hide and seek game against the clock, Zoro's battle sense/power already far exceeds Pica that he won't need to use Haki on the real body.
