I guess that blows the Sakumo theory out.

1 out of 3 evidences explained.

All 3 are explainable.

Kakashi's sense of smell is greater than most, but he's not the only non-Inuzuka to have this ability.

Hiruzen had a great enough sense of smell to track Hashirama and Tobirama, which got him around Kokuangyo:

And no, there's no certain requirements for any animal summonings that we saw in the series, to my recollection anyway. All you have to do is sign your name in blood in the summoning scroll.

Not much telling where Kakashi was given the scroll from. It's a possibility his father had a contract with the ninken as well, and he passed it down to Kakashi himself(I believe Kakashi was 6 when his father killed his self, and he was chunin at 6 as well, so he would have had the skill/chakra to summon), or the summoning contract with the ninken was something kept in the Hatake-clan, and he was given it given he would have been the heir to it, I assume.

Nope... No red markings...

Yep, no markings.(I forgot about that chapter art)

So Kakashi isn't a full-blood inuzuka, but what could've been his connections with the clan. He doesn't have to have their genes or something, just if he affiliated himself with the clan at some point to gain summons to Ninken and develop strong scent.

Orrrr......What if Kakashi wears make-up to cover the red markings.....jk....that wouldn't make sense either since there would be no need for a mask.

I might be over thinking this slightly.

Maybe my memory fails me, but I don't think a single Inuzuka ever summoned a dog. All of their clan members are given their dogs at a young age and they stick together.

It's also worth noting every single Inuzuka clan dog has been gigantic(when full grown, of course). Kakashi's only really large dog is Bull, the others ranging from medium sized to absolutely puny in Pakkun.

Hiruzen had a good sense of smell but It wasn't as hyped up as Kakashi. Hiruzen was close with nearly all the clans in the leaf I believe, so he probably developed a bit of their enhanced sense of smell with the Inuzuka clan at some point.

Also, Hatake isn't confirmed to be a clan. That's why I made this thread in the first place. I'm assuming that Kakashi had strong connections with people from the inuzuka clan.

Another interesting note is each member of Kakashi's ninken(I learned this from just researching it now) has the same symbol somewhere on their clothing.

It's the henohenomoheji "symbol", which is drawn by children in Japan as the faces for scarecrows. Kakashi's name means scarecrow.

Which further separates them from the Inuzuka clan, it would seem.

I'm pretty sure that Kiba's mother and Sister monitor all the dogs in konoha.
Also I just remembered, Kiba's Mum's Dog can Talk just like Kakashi's dogs.
Usually you'll only see summoned animals talking in this series.

The issue with that is all Kakashi's really is, is hype. Where as Hiruzen actually has the feat of tracking someone with his sense of smell alone.

Hiruzen was close with the clans(He is apparently stated to be able to use all clan techniques in the 4th databook), but the Inuzuka's sense of smell is a clan-trait, something each member seem to be born with. It doesn't seem to be a technique that most Konoha clans just teach to their young.

Well, yes, that's a potential reason, but combining their markings, varying breeds(and size), compared to that of the known Inuzuka-clan dogs, they just don't match up as being from their clan.

I mean it's obviously not impossible, just doesn't seem likely given what we know.

Their dogs DO Vary. just saying

Hard to tell since you barely get to see the inuzuka clan in this series to even know.

In fact we've only seen three people in this clan; Kiba, His mother and Sister.

I'm assuming that the contract was given to Kakashi by the inuzuka clan as unique ownership for the dogs. This is just my Assumption tho.
