What is the purpose of this filler arc?

Seriously, why did they have to make a new one, the manga is over, this is a waste of time. And why do they have to place these stupid things in the most crucial parts of the plot, it destroys story structure and has nothing to do with what's actually going on. If they wanna make a flashback filler they could at least do a relevant one...

I'm honestly enjoying this filler arc so far, it's giving backstory and screentime to some characters that didn't get it in the manga.
Characters like Neji, Lee, and Fuu seem to have some kind of important role in the arc, which is good, because they are interesting characters imo.

As for the real reason behind making fillers at this point, if it's not obvious, it's to extend the show, which means more money for the studio and the owners of Naruto.
