As the title says.

Belief in something doesn't mean it's true.

No shit. If you believe in something it means you think it is true.

Yeah I could thank you.

Thank you.

Doesn't make it true though.
Yes but you believe that it is. Stating something as true doesn't make it the truth.

I have a feeling this has to do with a religious debate you had, am I wrong?

The word 'belief' is just a substitution of relief when you don't have enough proof of something being real or coming true. For example, many Christians like to 'believe' in God knowing that that is all that they can do is believe.

Nope. Belief doesn't matter on whether you have evidence or not.

For example, Scientists believe in natural selection. They believe in it because they have evidence that supports it.

The word doesn't apply to only lack of evidence.

In religion it does.
So the meaning changes when the topic is something you disagree with?

I know what you're trying to say but I think the word you're looking for would be faith.

Depends of the context and how people interpret it. The worldview of people can be different, something you consider as right may be wrong to other people.

Belief?

In my country we Have lots of superstitious beliefs. XD
From Funerals to weddings to house constructions.
Feng shui? Ring a bell?

It became part of the tradition and although there's no real proof of the bad consequences for not following these beliefs, its better to follow it. No harm done.

Dude, I don't know what the hell your crying about, but I'm not disagreeing with anything. I'm simply explaining the components of the word 'belief'. Belief can have many meanings depending on the attribute.

If you have evidence in something then their is no point in wasting your time and energy in believing in it when you can just prove it exists.
I know what you're trying to say but I think the word you're looking for would be faith.
Faith and belief are practically the same thing, hence why the word faith is an example given in the dictionary definition for the word belief.
