Part I Shipping Expectations

Whether you read or watched Part I of Naruto, which people did you think were going to be romantically involved at the end just based on Part I (before you read or watched Part II)?

I personally thought Shikamaru & Temari were going to get together (which they did) and Naruto & Sakura (which they didn't and is fine).

Honestly, shipping the characters was not on my mind when I was really into the show. I was what, 11 or 12 possibly 14.

I found Hinata sweet because of her shyness and wanted her to be happy in the end. If that counts

Part 1?

Sasuke and Sakura

The biggest SS fanbase came from Part 1 Interactions.


At this Time SasuSaku is the most obvious and developed couple.



Kishimoto didn't make SS canon from part 1 because the plot demanded Sasuke to leave and go to the dark side. He couldn't accept love in order to accomplish his goals.

Sasuke considered Sakura a important Person to him.
Defedend her from Sound Trio brutally beating them for what they did with Sakura
Sakura giving a lot hugs to Sasuke.
At the end of Part 1 with Sakura confessed her love to him.
Kishimoto stated the one who filled sasuke lonely existence with love was sakura in Sasuke’s databook 2..


SS had everything to finish canon at the end of part 1 without Sasuke leaving the village.

Naruto and Hinata only became a true possibility in the late of Part 2 in Pein Arc when Hinata finally confessed.


Before this Hinata had a very limited screen time.
Naruto didn't know anything about her feelings.
Nobody knew if Hinata loved Naruto or simply admired his Ninja way

@Radice -- Agreed. They're limited screen time made things hard. Hinata wasn't even shown until the Chunin exams, which was only half of Part 1 entirely before things turned into the Sand arc/Naruto vs Sasuke, however it was plainly obvious that Hinata loved Naruto for his Ninja way. Chunin exams supported that much.

NaruHina since part 1. After the chunin exams and after neji vs Naruto, I just knew the pairing would happen. Didn't really care for any other yet. Figured ShikaTema were married by then, then again the pairing was nearly confirmed in part 1 Lol

To me, ShikaTema was indeed the most obvious, otherwise I didn't care much.

Part 1 pairings were so obvious.

Sasuke and Sakura dominated in terms of moments, other obvious ones were Naruto and Hinata, and Shikamaru and Temari.

Part 2 mixed things up with Sasuke away and Karin introduced, but to be honest it was still obvious especially in the war arc.
