Minato and Kushina would have died regardless of Sasuke wouldn't have someone to save him....unless this was the RTN verse and Sakura was the Naruto

Maybe he wasn't allowed to fight, maybe Kishi forgot about that.

Even Itachi could have fight because of his rank...
