One piece or bleach

Bleach definitely it's a smoother transition from Dbz just like Naruto was.
One piece is mediocre

Bleach is terrible now but it has good moments in the anime. But overall is mediocre.

One piece is way too long to start at the beginning and isn't really interesting in the beginning. It supposedly gets better if you hang in there but I couldn't take it.

Bleach is turrible, and I'm up to to date with both mangaa. Bleach in terms of story writing, plot doesn't hold a candle to bleach. However, bleach has the most interesting character designs of the well known HST.

Was it the lame villains early on like buggy and kuro? Or was it the annoying characters like ussop and nami? I have a feeling it was the comedy targeted for 4 year olds right?

I'd say One Piece if you're patient and looking for a story to fully indulge yourself in. If you just want some quick action, then go with Bleach.
