nah it was just for fun even in IT because Rock Lee's story is always about success through hard work and that's what happened in this scene.

his work finally payed and he won Sakura just like any price for it, doesn't mean he loved her at all xd

this character is also totally about comic relief except when Gaara almost killed him and he was depicted for a period of time like a very tragic broken character.

You can't force love, Sakura didn't owe Lee her love therefore you can't say he is too good for her just because she didn't love him back.

Actually I think it confirmed that she loved both Sai and Sasuke but ended up with Sai for obvious reasons.
