Besides there's no where stated that his attack wouldn't have been enough, it's like i've said: Itachi told Naruto and Bee to attack with him because they were there...

An average shinobi? he solo's your favorite character... He didn't even intent to kill any of them because he's 1 of the good guys... He only acted in self defence and still owned VERY skilled top tier shinobi (most with a mere genjutsu)...
