According to both Date the anime driector and Masashi Kishimoto he wanted NH happen. Further, there were times when he was thinking to make Hinata the heroine, but WSJ rejected this idea.

Not mentioning that while I not really found any proof to your "they forced him" point I found tons of NS fans who are trying forcing Kishimoto to change the ending.

So much about NS being "pure and true". Not mentioning that until chapter 699 and 700 NS fans were the ones who did care the less about the story, the battles, the logic errors and other problems of the manga.

No Kishi has had Naruto and Hinata pared up sines the start,it’s not Kishi fault that a minority of people came to the wrong assumption from chapter 1 to chapter 700 He did leave tons of clues you and others chose to ignore at your own peril.
