His reasons are much better than Madara's, Obito's, Nagato's, or Sasuke's.

Indra became evil because of the extremely severe trauma inflicted upon his psyche when his father gave the inheritance that was rightfully his to his younger brother.

Indra is the man. He should have been the one to inherit everything.

He was betrayed and suffered immensely. More so than any Uchiha.

Although his brothers never died like the other Uchiha, his brother was dead to him, which is really what matters.

I agree with most of it except for Nagato and Sasuke. I think Nagato has one of the best reasons for going "evil" Growing up in a village that is constantly being destroyed by other countries fighting their wars in your home, loosing family and friends to wars that have no baring on your own country and to leaf ninja would drive anyone to think as he did.

And Sasuke's entire clan being massacred by his own brother and then he was forced to view it through genjutsu. That would mess anyone's head up.

But yeah everyone else I agree with you. Indra's reason for going "evil" is a very solid one as well. Betrayal of the father can twist one's heart.

Hagoromo wanted a legacy of cooperation, so Indra's first order of business was to kill his own brother out of jealousy?

We don't know enough about his character's motivations to say for sure, but it seems that Indra is the only one who was motivated by a purely selfish reason. At least the others were trying to do what they thought was best for the world.

I strongly disagree, from just what we've seen so far in the manga....

But the fact that we don't know too much about Indra and his motives holds me from giving any categoric answers.

Idk. The first generation with those two is just the NV's rendition of Cain/Abel to me. The other two pairs (and the similar non-transmigrant pairs) are far more interesting to look at in my opinion.

Really? That's painful?

Imagine the person closest to your heart murders everyone you care about. You get your revenge then someone tells you the community leaders forced them to do it. Everything that happened robbed you of your innocence and sanity. That pain eats away at your heart to the point, you're drowning in darkness. Imagine that happening and you're just a 7 year old playful kid. Seeing that much death and those secrets can mess with your mind.

It's like Dexter. He developed antisocial tendencies after his mother was chopped up in front of him.

I wish we knew more about Indora's character to be sure if this is why turned curse of hatred. Both Sasuke and Madara are his reincarnations, and both go curse of hatred do to losing someone close to them. They both were very loving and caring until then, also curse of hatred stems from love according to Hashirama (think that is what he said). I think Indora has to have a deeper reason than that, like maybe he feared if he didn't get to be successor of ninshuu he'd lose someone he held dear?

Maybe Kishimoto will eventually give us more details... I've been curious forever, and so far nothing to give us more on what happened.... I actually think Kishimoto could make a spin off series of this if he wanted or something of the sort... I would beg Kishimoto to write something at this point lol

It wasn't "betrayal". It was clear at the time that Ashura's will, like narutos, to bring people together was much better than Indra's resolution to do everything by himself. Although he shouldn't have entrusted everything to ashura, indra's reaction only proved how Bad or wrong Indra would be as the successor

Humans are driven by greed.

Lost wealth or power is very debilitating.

loss of your entire family is more debilitating.

on the big list of decent excuses for being evil, indra is right down there with kakazu, at "because"

Indra's reason was realistic. In the real world, siblings murder each other for petty reasons like daddy leaving more money to one son over another.

Naw, his reasoning was based solely on greed and jealousy that soon turned into hatred.
