LMAO. All these fanbase flame wars are so pointless. It's annoying how everyone claims some drawn and sketched characters to be better than others in terms of power or etc. Lol its all manga plots making these characters this way. Kishi could've made everyone fodder including Itachi. They could all just sip some tea and play cards XD

These flame wars need to stop, it just shows how ignorant and immature people are. Do you people have anything productive to do with your lives? Go read a book or something lol.

FF VII: Cloud is the main character, yet his rival is stronger
Tenjou Tenge: Nagi is the MC, yet his rival is stronger
Yugioh GX manga: Jaden is the MC, yet 3 of his rivals are stronger than him

Just some examples, The mc is not always stronger than his rival. The rival can be weaker, stronger, or just as strong (like in Digimon for example). It depends on what is shown and most importantly what the creator says or tries to depict. Kishimote clearly depicted them as equals, at least it was his goal.

Btw. didn't Indra tie with Ashura even though Hagoromo gave Ashura his chakra and not even a bit to Indra?

That is such a weak argument, the main character is not always the strongest and often the main rival is stronger.

Indra is the genius that was born stronger and relied on his own power, Ashura was a loser at first (Sage's words) who only managed to reach Indra's level by the power of cooperation.

1. Sakura is stronger than Hinata as a ninja, but Hinata has a better personality development overall (and the real problem starts when you try comparing the incomparable).

2. Hinata still has a personal (she IS the only known user) jutsu, while Sakura doesn't (the difference between punching and kicking is clearly smaller than between chakra transformation applications).

3. Hinata has personality traits that should be simulated in real life (loyalty, selflessness, kindness, seeing behind masks, love that actually makes sense), and so does Sakura (being a great medic, fully absorbing the teacher's knowledge, becoming notable without being born famous).

4. Except that Hinata overcame her shortcomings (timidity, shyness, stuttering, fainting), while Sakura can't get over her single problem (relapsing fangirl forever).

5. And in any case, the BIGGEST problem is the unnecessary HATE (just fyi, I started "bashing" Sakura ONLY after being fed up with the extensive and openly idiotic Hinata-hating; and even THREE MONTHS after the END of Naruto, it's STILL going strong, so don't blame ME here, blame those who can't stop being IDIOTS).

My fav isn't determined by who is the strongest. That's just for people who have taste in poor judgement. I look for overall characterization, and Sakura and Naruto are shit when it comes to that.
