Gladius doesn't turn things into an explosion, he can create an explosive force within inorganic materials, causing them to rupture or pop.

I always saw it as the inflation fruit.. he just inflates in organic things like balloons and then they pop

NW characters are on a whole new level compared to the GL fighters, if crocodile was being smacked around by pre-gears luffy's speed and strength, speed that couldnt match someone like blueno and strength that couldnt break lucci's tekkai unless he used gear 2, than he isnt beating the second strongest executive of Doffy, a veteran of NW.

After looking over both characters' speed, power, and durability, I'm pretty sure Gladius wins this mid diff.
