Looking to buy a gaming PC

I've been looking around online for PC's and have found what my friends to be considered good for my budget although I'm not too sure. They said that I should aim for an i5 processor but that goes somewhat above what I want to spend and searching around online, it's been said that the i5 is a little bit better than the AMD Athlon X4 750K but only by a little bit.
This PC I'm mainly looking to use for video editing (sony vegas, adobe after effects, etc.) some high gaming I wouldn't mind but isn't really necessary.
I've also selected a GTX 660 as my graphics card, 8gb RAM and 1tb hdd comes with the pc too.
Also the only games I'm mainly looking to play are League of Legends, Counter Strike: GO and Battlefield 4. My budget is £350, maybe £450.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's little to no difference at all between the i7 and the i5 in terms of gaming. Did you fall for Alienware marketing where they pair i7's with shitty GPU's?

Really? You're actually going to dislike my post because I asked for help? Also I haven't even got League installed on this PC, the one I currently use isn't for gaming at all, only video editing. I was hoping to try out dota sometime in the future anyway.

There is a huge difference especially down the line. There's also the possibility that it will bottleneck your 660, meaning that the 660 won't be working to its full potential because the processor is holding it back.

What is your budget? I could be more helpful if I knew it.

For me, it's around £350, my brother said he might throw in another £100. By the way I mainly want to use it just for video editing (sony vegas, adobe after effects, etc.) and streaming from my consoles through my elgato. Running a few good games like bf4 or so, I wouldn't mind but isn't all the necessity.

Also its just a waste to spend all that money on a gaming pc if the kind of games you play are league of legends. the real pc gaming community LAUGHS at league players. Its a joke game and i just don't see justifying a huge pc purchase. Like, the game is literally all 12 year olds too.

The GTX 660 is only about $160 over here, that's strange. For that price you can get a GTX 970 ($350) instead which is much better. I guess the prices are different over there. Long story short, a GTX 660 is definitely not worth that price. Back when it was in stock it was only about $260.

An AMD FX-8350 with a GTX 750 ti might suit your needs since you're focusing more on streaming and video editing.

I have a GTX 660 and I have had no problems as of yet. I've had it for about a year now. As for the price, that's extremely high. Try buying from a US seller and just paying the shipping cost. Also, if you're going to be doing video editing, I feel like i7's are better in that area than i5's. Especially if you want to do some gaming on the side.

You should really consider making a PC. It's honestly a lot more cost efficient and it's wayyyyy better to be honest. The only problem is that you're building it and if it's your first time you might get sketched out a bit. It's real easy though and it saves a lot more money than buying a premade one.

I said I could go to £450 so I don't see how it really is out of my budget.

I think you might have read it wrong? I was labeling the price of the GTX 660 from the far right side of the page probably as a whole PC, the price of it individually is, $155.

Games still only need 4 cores for gaming, so the i7's extra cores is a waste and is more fitted for stuff like photoshop and video editing. Instead of paying an extra $100 for an i7, you can just get an i5 with an aftermarket cooler and overclock it to hell.

Stop falling for Alienware marketing and do some research yourself. They sucker people into buying their overpriced PC's that have shitty graphics cards paired with an i7 which automatically makes people think it's a "gaming beast".

I guess you haven't tried running gta 4 with icenhancer at 60+ fps :/ i5's are becoming ineffective for newer titles. For the first time in ages, people are getting bottlnecked by the cpu and not the gpu. An i7 DOES make a large difference. The only reason it often doesn't seem like it is because, up until now, no games had taken advantage of processing powers higher than an i5. The new titles will quickly see issues on i5's
