I'm pretty sure that Kishimoto is not mentally challenged and wouldn't forget such important thing if he intended to do that, especially since he was going to make a sequal.

You're either born with the Byakugan or not. If Bolt awakens it, it's an asspull. I will quit this series if it happens or if he awakens the Tenseigan.

The Sharingan is different. Instead of being born with it, you have to awaken it through strong emotional pain. Sarada has the potential to awaken it due to her father's dominate genes.
