I don't think Pain would seeing as he's a secret, Kakazu/Hidan don't see like a liable option as they were unknown to Kakashi. Maybe Itachi & Kisame again i mean they have Gaara, Gai, Kakashi, Tsunade, Asuma, K11, Sand Siblings

it woudln't make a whole lot of sense to have kakazu a enemy in the manga shown to be completely featless until he fought in shippuden so it would be a plot hole

No, seeing kakuza feat doesnt necessary make a plothole, this is a flasback we're talking about. The only thing that makes a plothole is if team asuma or any of konoha shinobi encountered kakuza grasping the intel of the akatsuki which shouldnt happen beforehand until the be middle of shippuden. My point is that Fuu was most likely got captured when she was alone or yet her team was with her and got annihilated

So that would leave Sasori, Konan, or Kakuzu to catch Fu. If I recall correctly Kakuzu said something about the jinchuuriki he caught being left for dead by his/her village. So that would fit Fu from what we've seen from the preview, as she's obviously not being treated very well. So I'd say from this, in addition to the fact that they're both from the same village (the waterfall village) it's most likely that it'll be Kakuzu and Hidan capturing Fuu.

Konan would be an interesting choice, the girl fights are extremely rare in this manga, I think that the only one was Sakura vs Ino to tell the truth.

Konan does lack the most screen time, but on the other hand her jutsu is a bit boring so I don't know how to feel about that.

It would be better if Konan is paired together with someone else (Pain can't be there obviously).

Kisame is automatically disqualified as well because he does not have a voice actor, by extension Itachi is probably out as well since they were always seen together.
