[Discussion] Whats so great about the chrimera ant arc?

In my opinion it is a good arc with some intersting moments. I enjoyed. However it is EASILY the worst hxh arc.
How can people even dare to say that it is as good as yorknew city arc or the hunter exams arc?
Other hxh arcs were better because tehy were more about the plot,characters and intersting storyline.
Chrimera ant arc was a based around fights which is a negative. It was based around boring fights involving fodder chrimera ants which i could not care less about. The fights themselves were usually boring.

The chrimera ants were silly looking and utterly ridicolous. They were strong in strength but i hated them as antagonists. Just looking at them makes you feel bad in the stomach. How can they compare to the phantom troupe swag?
Also the arc was way too long and stretched out. I wouldn't mind if the fights were more interesting i guess.
There was also some good moment slike mereum vs netero and gon vs nerfpitou. Arcs such as yorknew city and hunter exam were far better. The following arc with the chairman election was far more entertaining too.

Nah Chimera above Zoldyck and Greed Island. It's only better than Greed Island in replay value, the first time watching GI is way better but rewatching the Chimera ant is more enjoyable than watching the GI arc to me.

It's ranked so high because most people mostly care about action sequences that's why despite all the hipsters you hear talking trash Michael Bay keeps getting jobs.

I liked Chimera because it gave us some fun characters, I like Knuckle and Morel and Knov and Shoot and Ikalgo and the chameloen whose name I can't remember and Palm, they were good additions.

Chimera ant is pretty good due to action, plot and some really well written and awesome characters. The strength of King or Meruem was more than enough to build the tension throughout the arc. Chimera ants themselves are really interesting species, with few interesting powers. Development of them as species, from being simple ants, to ants with thinking power, to ants with emotions and then becoming almost identical to human beings(which showing all the human like traits, love, hate etc) is typically awesome and certainly well written.
There is one more important thing, that makes this arc interesting and that is sidestories.
The one I liked the most particularly is story of Komugi, she is the weakest, blind girl, who can't use handkerchief properly, but the way she plays a huge role in development of King, is brilliant. She is one of my favorite characters from this arc and probably one of the things that makes this best HXH arc, imo.
It is obviously lengthy and you need patience to enjoy it, but if you have it, you will be able to enjoy each and every chapter and moment that you come across.

Are you serious? The fights weren't as impactful because of the lack of buildup and character developmemt but the battles never stop.
From daddy zoldyck and the cheetah ( heehee *squish) to the Youpi and knuckle fight?
There's no way to hate on it.
Oh and it's twice as good of an arc in manga, you thought Meruem was brutal in the anime then you have no idea.

It's your opinion. Learn to respect others opinion or you're just going to bash them here. IMO Chimera Arc was the best.
Why on earth is that negative? I could say Yorknew is boring because it just has one real fight between Kurapika and Ubogin.
The fights were boring???? That's unbelievable. I don't know what to say.
You went too far when you said Chairman Election arc was better too. But like I said it's your opinion. Your free to say whatever you want.

Chimera just had a slow start but it had amazing character development for Gon, Killua & Meruem. I'm sure a lot of people who used to hate Gon before the Chimera Ant arc now love him because of his development. Meruem was well written and in many eyes he was an amazing villain, much better than Chrollo (yes he never got that much screen time as Meruem) and that says a lot from a Chrollo fanboy. We got to see the spiders kicking ass as well, gotta love that rising sun. There was even romance as well (Meruem & komugi). It had amazing themes, romance, action, character development, flashback (Gyro) & even deaths. How can you not place this at #1? I see most people, including myself saying how the RG's got taken care of was somewhat of an asspull/BS but even then, that shouldn't undermine the amazing aspects Chimera Ant arc brought.

I too enjoyed the election arc. It seems a lot of people don't enjoy that much because it had little action & was more "politics" based, which is pretty dumb. Election arc is pretty underrated.

HxH hunter anime in general was solid.

Chimera arc ranks high because of how much in depth we got into nen and we got to see how dangerous some species are. This of course ultimately builds into the next arc the dark continent as that is where the ants originated from (Im still not buying that they're a B class threat. They took down the strongest nen user of this time. At least an A class)

We saw multiple fights with two really awesome ones.
There was moe fighting than in other arcs but it wasn't senseless. All the fights had meaning to an extent.

I saw Ant arc is top 3 with the spider arc being right up there with it.

I liked the chimera ant arc because of the character development and of course the battles, can't forget the battles.

but mureum was a well written villain. his character evolved [no pun intended]. the death of the chairman was one i enjoyed because he went out like a boss, and it created a sense of danger, like the organization doesn't have him to fall back on for future dangers. [if hiatus ever ends, sheesh]

gon's transformation was bada** and him losing his powers open up future possibilities for its development because jajanken needed serious improvement. (sure this was togashi's way of retconning gon's power)
the emotional struggle he faced after kite's death and the fact that he's had someone die due to his incompetence should really cause a maturation of sorts in him.

killua began to notice that his relationship w/ gon isn't exactly the healthiest too. idk, it gave a lot and left a lot to look forward to for me. easily one of my favorite arcs.]

**Dark continent has the potential to be the best yet tho.

Worst? Hell no, that title belongs to the Greed Island arc.

The Chimera Ant arc was pretty good, though. I found the concept of Chimera Ants interesting. I like how Togashi did an excellent job in building up tension throughout the entire arc. As a result, the atmosphere was pretty dramatical and suspenseful. Unfortunately, the fights were boring ass (with the exception of Netero vs. Meruem).

No way he's not an A class threat. His power at that point was limitless.

He's a B class threat. That was given to him AFTER the Chimera Ant crisis.

Post-Rose Meruem gets unimaginably slaughtered by any DC creature.
