Say you want someone to make a particular post, thread or judgement but to entice them to do so, you offer them rep, is this a violation of the rules? I know that asking for rep is against the rules but I haven't come across a rule that says you can't offer to give rep in response to a post.

I guess it would depend on the nature of what you are asking. If it's for trolling and spam purposes it "would be," but I don't think mods and admins have time to search through everyone's VM's for what you are talking about. It'd be different if you were reported though. But, for example: It shouldn't be if it is a valid post that they might have discussed with you in a VM but they don't really want to post it but you are encouraging them to by offering a rep. But then again, maybe you should check FAQ's? I could be completely wrong. :|

The issue is that we need judges in a debate tourney so that things can progress to the next stage. The problem is that the existing judges aren't doing anything so to force people to judge these debates, I'm going to have to offer a collective +rep campaign to entice people to offer lengthy and detailed judgements made in a timely fashion.

That shouldn't be against the rules imo, though it could be. It's basically the same as repping a good post, but you are doing it before the post is made and encouraging a better quality post.

I'm just making sure because I have a track record of no infractions which I want to keep. Do you want in as a judge?

I see. I'd wait for confirmation from a mod or admin first. Thanks for the offer, but I am incline to not accept; I am not that good at debates and judging them.

Rep Abuse: While it is normal to give reputation to people who help you or have done something you found interesting for the forum, repeatedly asking for people to rep you, to rate your profile, or the participation in games like "rep me and I will rep you" are considered "cheating" and are not allowed. If caught spreading reputation points, Admins can set your points to 0. To question or try get your reputation back will result in that the reputation bar gets inactivated for the user.
If negative reputation is given for no reason and/or for inappropriate reasons administrators will take action.
^ from the forum rules:

In regards to your question, no it would not be against the rules unless it was done repeatedly or you entice them to break the rules/make a thread that breaks the rules.

Collective rep campaign? Exactly what does that mean?

And exactly where is this tourney being held? It's suppose to be in a group and there are no rep buttons...

I think it should be and maybe you guys should make thread about application for judges or something. I think there are many people who are interested in doing so.
