No, Itachi do not have time to catch Guy's Gate speed at all. Finger Genjutsu? Give me a break. Even Granny Chiyo was able to release the Genjutsu from Itachi to free Naruto. That was Itachi's fodder Genjutsu. He cannot do better than that, but he needs to look into their eyes to fully restrain their bodies inside his Genjutsu. It means Guy > Itachi in both finger and high foot speed, lel.

in the manga people were already caught in genjutsu because they even knew they were. Your assuming Gai can open the gates before the genjutsu is cast, but IDk im a Sakura Fan. and this isn't about her
