If you're unfamiliar with the cenobites, they are the reoccuring main antagonists of the Hellraiser film series. Cursed and tortured demons that trick people into opening their numerous puzzle boxes across the world so that they may open portals into hell, pull the people into it and torture them for all eternity. Their story and concepts are of course different from the six peins, but, I can't help but feel parallels between them. The piercings, Preta path resembling Butterball, Butterball, Pinhead mirroring deva path by being the menacing and charismatic leader who does all the talking, the female mirroring the female animal path, Angelique reminds me of the human path, and one unnamed one looks almost exactly like the asura path. There are numerous cenobites throughout the hellraiser comics and movies, but they generally appear in groups of five or six.

The term cenobite is a word meaning "a member of a communal religious order" which mirrors the rinnegan and six paths concept of Samsara from Buddhism. Perhaps Kishimoto read the comic or watched some of the films and the cenobites inspired him to illustrate Pein's six avatars.

Clearly you did not read my op, which is very discourteous.

I'm well aware of the six paths referencing the wheel of reincarnation. What I was talking about were the six avatars designs themselves.

By the way, the realms are not people, they are existences.
