If he was born earlier than Itachi and Obito, then Sasuke would be dead as well, since Madara would choose him instead of Obito. Or Itachi would have to destroy him during the Uchiha massacre. Or he would be just a fodder who would be among all those who died in the war. He was just very lucky to be younger than Itachi, who gave him power ups.
