[Discussion] SasuSaku needs an explanation from Kishimoto (NOT ANTI)

For starters, I have shipped SasuSaku from the very beginning and could not be happier that they ended up becoming Canon! However, I cannot deny that the antis have a point in saying that it does not make complete sense. After what Sasuke said in 693, some explanation would be good. Yes, he referenced her previous confession, but all he did was knock her out again and belittle her love to Naruto and Kakashi. Kakashi's verbal ass-kicking could not have changed Sasuke's mind that abruptly. Yes, he apologized in 699 and poked Sakura's forehead, but after such an outburst less than 10 chapters earlier, that relationship needs to be explained, much more than NaruHina. None of the other canon couples were ever hostile (ShikaTema, maybe at first), but Sakura and Sasuke have had some rough moments that light would need to be shed on the recovery. Plus, anyone else notice that Sarada's parents were kept hidden the longest?

Kishi is just not good with writing romances. So if we do get something it will be from the anime producers like with The Last.

According to Radon Kishimoto is thinking of how SS got together.

He must be, since Sarada was the only child whose parents were not revealed immediately and NaruHina is 100 times easier to make happen logically.

:| Y exactly? Sasuke was trying to cut all ties to himself and he said that to his knowledge she had no reason to love him. Tbh, y Sakura loves Sasuke is pretty much the only thing that I need Kishi to state. I already knew that Sasuke would appreciate Sakura's feelings once he turned good, because this whole trip has been about Sasuke valuing bonds rather than choosing to sever them. So him falling for Sakura for being there for him all that time makes sense.

SS was rushed though. All pairings were. NH would have been without the Last if not for SP. Kishi didn't even show that between vote and Sasuke leaving months had already passed

Yeah it seemed rushed. I mean it sounds like Kishi wrote the story as he went. One minute sasuke physiologically destroys Sakura and the next minute he really cares about her deep down and lied about hating everyone. Any story writer can turn the tables like that in two seconds. It was kinda like an asspull

Yeah, I always shipped SS and I do agree with most of your points :| not with the part of needing a better explanation than the other main pairings.

But he also said that he had no reason to love her and suddenly changed his mind 6 chapters later? Sakura still loving him, I understand. Him speaking so negatively about Sakura and loving her and changing his mind out of nowhere could at least use a reference in a conversation. Or something. Something to explain his change of heart towards a romantic relationship with her.

I don't mean it to sound like SasuSaku is better than the others, it just seems more complicated to me. Ino was known to have some interest in Sai, and Shikamaru and Temari were heavily hinted at throughout the way. Chouji's family came out of nowhere and something for that would be nice as well. But Naruto and Hinata did not need an entire movie to show Naruto returning Hinata's feelings, other pairings needed that more.

Sasuke always loved his team. :|

Its just to accomplish his goal he couldn't have bonds with anyone otherwise the hate would spill over on to them.

Definitely, so glad Kishi made that bond unbreakable :hooray:

Yeah, Sakura was the only girl that made sense for Sasuke to end up with, but that seems like a cop out compared to the other canon pairings. Except Chouji, cause that one came out of the blue.

Really? :| Well, I am fine with it

Unbreakable bond works just fine with me.

I think the main problem is the fact that there were only two more chapters after his change of heart. Certainly his brutal behaviour in his genjutsu didnt help if he meant to have SS paired but it was understandable given the underlying significance of it.

It doesn't make any practical sense but no romance in Naruto does anyway.

There is a huge time skip just begging for more canon movies, after all.

But yes, you're right, SS is probably the most asspulled ship Kishi created in this series.

Moreso than Choujixthat black girl, and even that pairing was clearly an afterthought.

If there was any pairing that needed a whole movie, and then some for an explanation, it was SS.

NH was practically canon 3/4 of the way through the manga, but again, Kishi never intended for The Last.

Precisely my point. Chouji's wife being an afterthought, while annoying, makes more sense for supporting characters. For two main characters with SS's history to end up together demands an explanation, if, for no other reason, because they are the other main characters in a 700 chapter manga.

That works for me platonically, but not for the romantic aspect because his bonds with Naruto and Sakura are clearly different. Otherwise, there's a polygamy situation or he would not have married Sakura.

It makes sense, but how does it fit into the plot
