Did people really think that Sasuke wasn't going to be redeemed/have a happy ending? It was pretty much the overlying story arc for all of Part 2. Quite frankly, I'd be a lot more disappointed if he was killed off or stayed insane.

What drove sasuke out of the village in the first place was not just vengeance. The more he learnt about the shinobi system the more he detested konoha. Revolution sasuke would have been a realistic end for sasuke's character.

Sasuke, the character with the most substance, finished his transition from dark to light in 2014, became one of the two most powerful characters if not the most powerful, settled down with his familiy, saved the fodders from Konoha by blasting that huge meteorite in a million pieces just by using chidori, what a brilliant year he's had. Lol

vengeance was the very first and main reason. he learned about shinobi system a lot later from obito
