I like Lee, it's a shame he got shoved to the sidelines in part 2. Lee Vs Gaara is my favorite fight in the anime (a fight that he got screwed over in by Kishi).

Seriously though, given his status and reputation, there is nothing more embarrassing in this manga than what happened to Madara.

That was purely down to plot. Kishi wanted to wrap up quickly and it was the only way. Madara should have been the final villain

Another terrible error on Kishi's part. What drew people to the series in the first place were characters like Neji Lee Garaa etc

He rode the D express featuring Uchiha and Senju with a side of Uzumaki.

Everyone else were just material to be thrown aside and forgotten.

It's sad since it's true and those characters you listed are realllllly popular too.

Lee is the true underdog unlike Naruto. Though I dunno why you brought up sasuke when he was always established as a genius shinobi
