Is Kiba a reference to Princess Mononoke?

I'm sure this similarity has been addressed more than once here lols, but did Kishimoto ever state he was a Princess Mononoke fan and that Kiba referenced her?

1. Same hair color
2. same facial markings
3. Akamaru resembling the forest mother
4. Both impulsive

Dunno about kiba (very plausible) but his clan seems to be based on that. A piece of trivia in the narutopedia (link above) brings up the facial markings on the clan members and how they are similar to princess mononoke's facial markings.

Koga is a wolf demon, not a human or a canine charmer. And he does not look like Kiba or Princess Mononoke.
