Ability does not equate to being able to use the same techniques. And the manga stipulates they can only use Taijutsu. You think the Tailed Beasts feat wasn't possible with Taijutsu? Recall previous Sage Mode users. Naruto was able to throw Bijuu sized summons for fun with Sage Mode. Now take someone (Madara) who is naturally stronger than Base Naruto alive, give him Hashirama's cells to increase his base power and strength and then give him Sage Mode to amplify his strength. The Bijuu weren't damaged, they were simply pushed back. And considering Madara's speed (was blitzing everyone before he even got the Sage Mode), the speed at which he did it made sense with him using Taijutsu. To make matters worse for your claim, Madara never once referred to it as a clone. He referred to it as a shadow. So you can't use the basic clone principles on it, since it isn't a clone.
