A recent interview was included in the Fourth Databook. It hasn't been fully translated yet, but here are some parts from it:
>Regrets showing Hokage mountain early since it took away the suspense from when the kages were actually shown (since we knew what their faces looked like beforehand).
>Kushina was supposed to look cute and pretty. Not having much *** appeal, since that would be inappropriate as she is the hero's mother.
>Character wanted that was the reverse of Naruto.
>That character was Sasuke.
>Numerous designs made for Sasuke throughout series.
>Meant to be cool.
>Yahagi's fave character is Gaara. (Kosuke Yahagi is Kishimoto's first editor)
>Both Shippuden designs look good in their opinion.
>Killer Bee has an interesting way of speaking. It adds uniqueness to the character this way.
>Naming is really important and it is hoped that the name decided upon reflects the character's role in the story.
>Izanami seemed like an exciting and intricate tech to end the fight, a sister tech of Izanagi. It was found to be cool.
Kishimoto thanks people for reading the 4th databook which was created with the efforts of himself and his staff.
