I was skimming through viz scans and i remember that some people were wondering how Kaguya casted this jutsu without a moon.
Well there's confirmation that it only can be casted by the moon, nothing else.

There seems to be a second moon, which makes much sense because the viz scan saids that only way MT can work is being casted on the moon and it seems to be much smaller than the six paths CT. Which is practical because Kaguya only captured some people not the entire earths population iirc.

I just wanted to clear some things. U_U

1. There are likely two moons to cover the So6P inconsistency with sealing Kaguya.
2. There's nothing to suggest the Moon is essential in casting the genjutsu. The moon is only used to cast it at a planetary level. Without the moon it could still easily be used on individuals while retaining the original effect.

1. I highly doubt that because why would he break the seal?

2. If that were true then why didn't Kaguya even bother using that on team 7? everyone but sasuke would be screwed over.

2. If that were true then why didn't Kaguya even bother using that on team 7? everyone but sasuke would be screwed over.

There are cannonically two outcomes to his battle with the juubi.

In the first, Hagoromo and his brother Hamura seal Kaguya within the moon. In the second, Hagoromo seals the juubi within himself and upon his death bed, splits the juubi into the 9 Bijuu we know.

As these are both canon, it's only logical that 2 moons exist.

As for your second comment, Kaguya never was the smartest combatant... U_U

Well, The only i can think of is that the sage bros sealed away the gedo mazo but hagoromo sealed its chakra within him. However he summoned the gedo mazo back so it can keep him alive long enough so that he can speak to the bijuus. He did another CT right before he died so it can be out of reach once more and i know kaguya isn't the smartest but BZ would've said something about it.... maybe it has a massive cool down?

But that one was probably destroyed. Most likely to form the Moon that sealed Kaguya. Afterall, there is no gapping hole in the earth
