I am one of the biggest Kamui wanker, but Obito (not Tobi) is by probably the worst Naruto character imo. He killed so many people in despair over death of a girl who didn't love him, then gets TNJ in his Juubi jinchuuriki form by a teen boy whom he didn't have any direct connection with.

You get TNJ by random nobody just because you find him similar to you in some aspects? RIP logic, RIP rationality.

Naruto changed a lot of people not just obito, you shouldn't just single him out. In fact obito is one of the few who put up some resistance to TNJ. Juubi jinchuriki aren't impossible to beat without sealing, only kaguya is.

Obito did have some similarities to naruto.

You really do need to reread manga.

Manga states Obito was like naruto with same ideals and kakashi says he passed Obito's ideals to naruto.
Besides wanting to be hokage Obito main ideology was friends above all, we even have his known quote.
However with rin's death, help of madara, uchiha genes and lack of any close person to him he has rapidly succumbed into darkness and adopting IT as new way to benefit makind instead of hokage.

When he met naruto he saw his old self in him and began to unconsciously doubt himself thus test naruto, in the end this doubt became a regret which naruto successfully played on.

Then we have couple of chapters which state how Obito got back to his old self, no longer lost etc.

Im sorry you couldnt see past rin flashbacks but there is far more to Obito as a character then you think, his tnj only happened cuz he regretted losing his own self in first place before tnj happened albeit naruto did help to see the light.
